DE ARQUITECTO A FOTÓGRAFO
From Architect to Photographer
Soy arquitecto, diseñador urbano y fotógrafo nacido en Bogotá, Colombia, ciudad en donde inicié mi acercamiento a la fotografía como opción de vida, oficio que me permitió abstraerme de mi cotidianidad, observando gente, capturando sentimientos, y congelando momentos, para posteriormente darle vida a interesantes memorias que cruzaran el tiempo.

En el año 2015, mientras vivía en Melbourne, Australia, me encuentro con la fotografía en un ámbito diferente al usual, gracias a la foto competencia “How far we`ve come Photographic Exhibition” la cual llega a Ballarat, Australia, en el marco de la “Ballarat International Foto Biennale” y promovida por el gobierno de Victoria, Australia, evento en el que obtuve el primer lugar en las categorías de: “Beauty of Victoria”, “Beauty of Melbourne” y “Culture of Victoria”, además del reconocimiento total de jurados y asistentes de nivel internacional, situación que me enfrentó a un nuevo rol como fotógrafo.

Así pues, en esta aventura, inicia mi práctica como fotógrafo en Australia y posteriormente recorriendo el continente Asiático, de este último logré consolidar una mirada antropológica, que ligada a la estética, producen mi primer muestra fotográfica, denominada, “Asia: el camino de regreso a casa”, muestra que se convierte en la primera serie fotográfica de “Caminando por el mundo”, una agrupación de memorias fotográficas, que definen de manera visual los conceptos de diversidad y multiculturalidad, a través de la estética expresada por las texturas, los colores, la luz y los objetos en entornos con latitudes diversas.
I am an architect, urban designer and photographer who was born in Bogota, Colombia. In this city I started my experience into photography. This profession took me out of monotony by watching people, catching feelings, and freezing moments for later creating interesting memories that can survive along the years.
In 2015, I performed photography in a different way while I was living in Melbourne, Australia. There was a photography contest called “How far we’ve come Photographic Exhibition” in Ballarat, Australia. This contest was part of a bigger event (Ballarat International Foto Biennale), which was promoted by the government of Victoria, Australia. In the contest, I won the first place in the next categories: “Beauty of Victoria”, “Beauty of Melbourne” and “Culture of Victoria”. I also won all the recognition from the judges and international attendants. This situation set me in a new role as a photographer.
Hence, I started my practice as a photographer in Australia, and later in the Asian continent. In Asia, mixing a view from anthropology and aesthetic I achieved to produce my first photographic exhibition, named: “Asia: the way back home”. Then, this exhibition becomes the first part of a bigger project: “Walking around the world”. This project is a gathering of photographs that express and define the meaning of diversity and multiculturalism through the aesthetic of textures, colors, light, and objects and settings from different places.
